California Privacy Rights
This notice is for California residents and supplements our Privacy Policy. It explains the personal information QuoteWombat (SmartTeddy, Inc.) collects and the rights you have under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended.
Information we collect
- Identifiers: name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, IP address and device identifiers.
- Personal characteristics: date of birth, gender and marital status, when you provide them.
- Insurance details: your vehicle, home or pet, current insurer, coverage history, homeownership and self-rated credit.
- Internet activity: pages viewed and how you used our forms, including a record of the consent you gave.
We collect this from you, from your browser and device, and from service providers that help us run and secure the site.
How we use and share it
We use your information to match you with insurance companies, agents and marketing partners who can quote you, to keep records of your consent, to prevent fraud and to run and improve our service. When you submit a quote request and give consent, we share it with those companies, and we are paid for this. Under California law this may be a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16.
Your rights
- Know and access: ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use and share it.
- Delete: ask us to delete your personal information.
- Correct: ask us to fix information that is wrong.
- Opt out: tell us not to sell or share your personal information.
- Equal service: we will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Email partners@quotewombat.com with your name, phone number and email address so we can find your records. We confirm requests within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. You can use an authorized agent, who must show us your signed permission.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
To opt out, email us with the subject "Do not sell or share my personal information" and include the phone number and email address you used. We will stop selling or sharing your information within 15 business days.
Retention
We keep quote requests and consent records for as long as needed to provide our service and meet legal and record-keeping duties, generally up to five years, and then delete them.
